
EPIC Professional Learning - Capitalizing on Educator Creativity
Design Blitz
In this session, participants learn to work within the constraints of the “box” to define an actionable problem/opportunity, connect it to high leverage competencies and instructional practices. They will go through the process of developing a target persona to focus their work. Finally, they will summarize their selected problem/opportunity in preparation for future workshops.
Exploring, Tinkering & Idea Generation
In this session, participants focus on generating ideas to “solve” the problem summarized in the previous session, thinking of all of the strategies, techniques and technologies that could be used to make a positive impact. After selecting the idea that appeals most to them, they write an EPIC question that will frame their project for the innovation cycle and align their work with high leverage student competencies and educator practice. A key component of this session is for participants to reflect on the assumptions they have made when developing their EPIC question.
Blueprinting Brilliance
In this session, participants take the final steps in transforming their innovative ideas into actionable and measurable plans that can be implemented in their classrooms. This session is designed to provide the structure and support needed to ensure that each participant’s EPIC Question not only leads to real-world impact but is also aligned with broader educational goals and district priorities. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a comprehensive action plan, a validation strategy to measure the impact of their work, and peer insights that ensure their plans are well-rounded and ready for implementation. This workshop empowers educators to transform their innovative thinking into tangible results that drive meaningful change in their classrooms.
